Forest VR
This artwork is from my concept art series from Artstation where I am doing some cool stuff.
For this blog, I am mostly focused on process and the workflow of the artwork.
To create this one you need to study Deer's anatomy more than human's, Like you all know I prefer Autodesk Sketchbook pro over Photoshop for Drawing so I don't use clipping masks but instead I use layer transparency locks and use multiple layers to create the artwork, for example, I used more than 20 layers but I actually painted on only 7-8 layers and rest were for Layer properties and refining details like the light ray.
I would suggest you draw the nonsubject area in two parts i.e the lower ground and background separately and keep the contrast ratio different (you should always make the background less contrasty as the things far away are faded).
I used the Rock brushes and Earth brushes to create the ground, Artist edition details brush for the background they are available inside the software by default. For the subject, I used the Copic brushes and glow brush for the highlights, fur brushes for refining the details.
I highly recommend you to use 3d software to create your own references for the light it is super useful and it will save a lot of your time which is a pro tip for concept artists (be fast and create a variety of artworks Details don't matter but the representation).
What is the brand and model no. of your laptop?
